Death of Tarzan's grandfather : touching scene

The scene where Tarzan is dancing and prancing with the other guests in the hall and his grandfather walks to the staircase and finds a silvertray and decides to ride the stairs with it just for the heck of it. It is a touching scene. Or should I say it seems that it was supposed to be a touching scene. When I saw him crash that silver tray and knock his head on the staircase I started laughing uncontrollably and actually said outloud "what a stupid a**hole". Damn hilarious I tell you.

He wasn't a stupid fool. He had early forms of Alzheimer's disease. He thought he was a kid and took the silver tray and used it as a sled like he did as a kid.

When Tarzan was coming home. The Earl was shaving to see his grandson. He placed his shaving brush in his tea cup not knowing what he did. He even thought a few times that his grandson was his son before he left on the trip.
