One question about a scene

They are taking pictures of their kill. They have the monkeys hung by thier arms, and it looks like a man is pumping something (maybe air?) into one of the monkey's neck. What is he doing that for?

reply

The ape probably lost a lot of blood after getting shot. Filling him with air would make him look fuller and more life-like (I'm guessing).

reply

No no no. Embalming fluid, that's what that is.

reply

I'd have to agree with the air theory, as he seems to be using an ordinary brass bicycle pump. There's no canisters attached, or any liquid sounds audible as he's pumping either...just a "whooshing" air sound.

"Charlie don't surf!"

reply

I thought he was making them look more life-like to attract the other apes, which he could then shoot.

Have you guys ever used your brains? He is pumping air so that the skin detaches from the flesh and makes it easy to "peel" the corpse...

reply

I guess they havent 'peeled' as many corpses as you have alain

reply

This was a common way to make the animal being photographed (next to a hunter) seem as large and dangerous as possible.

reply

So, what's the recommended pressure for pumping up a chimp?

reply

60 lbs. per square ape, unless it's a Silverback, and then it's 80 lbs. If it's a Chimney-panzee, 16 lbs should gas 'em up just fine, just be aware of breaking wind, unless of course it's a wind-up meenkie.
