I mean he has got a knife and all but why is tarzan clean shaven, His dad had facial hair, so did his grandfather. What is the deal here? He is surrounded by a bunch of apes that are covered in hair and he looks like he is doing Gillette commercials. No chest hair, no facial hair, it is just strange.

It's been years since I read the Tarzan series, but IIRC, he was clean shaven in the original Burroughs books - done by scraping the hair off his face with a sharp stone, and of course with a razor once he became aware of civilisation.
I don't recall if Burroughs gave a reason for this - perhaps it was to differentiate himself from his tribe of Apes.

To get pedantic about it read Chapter xiii "His own kind" of Tarzan of the Apes, where the following sentence will explain it for you....'Almost daily he whetted his keen knife and scraped and whittled at his young beard to eradicate this degrading emblem of apehood'.
share1st plenty of guys don't have chest hair. In fact I don't know a single guy with chest hair. 2nd I think John's supposed to be younger, 18 perhaps. My brother and father only started to have small whisps of facial hair in their late 20s. 3rd, maybe he inherited his mother's hairless genes. They say you inherit baldness from your mother, not your father.

Yes plenty of guys don't have chest hair. Like I said both my brother and father didn't have chest hair. The boys in school didn't have chest hair. The workers, farmers, fishermen, here don't have chest hair either. If you think the world is like every single westerner and no one differs fron you guys, you are sadly mistaken.
As for the bald gene, you supposedly get that from the x chromosome which boys get from their mother, the y which determines their sex from their father.
