Masterpiece - An absolutely brillant, amazing, touching movie

I don't understand why it is so underrated on imdb.. This movie is just the perfection.. The better adptation of all times of the myth of Tarzan!

As a french, I can say that this is the better role of Christophe lambert, ridiculous in a lots of movies, but here absolutely wonderful, charismatic, incredible!

The plot is great, well told, the story magnificent, the direction, the atmosphere, the music, every things are perfect!

How believe these sequences with the Elgar music, just simply perfect..

Greystoke is truly an unbelievable movie, underrated here, I don't really know why, but really appreciated

Je suis entièrement d'accord avec vous. Ce film est la version la plus précise et la plus réaliste de l'histoire originale jamais faite, et l'action partout est brillante. Je pense qu'il aide le film que Christophe Lambert n'est pas anglais - il vraiment semble être un étranger dans une terre étrange quand il arrive en Angleterre. Et, comme j'ai dit ailleurs en ces pages, la nudité des deux plus jeunes "Tarzans" aide seulement pour renforcer l'authenticité du film.

Si mon français est moins que parfait, je fais des excuses. Je suis anglais, mais j'ai pensé que je devrais essayer de vous répondre en votre propre langue, pour être poli.

Can you think of it...? Just imagine...
(Je croix qu'il dit: "Pouvez vous penser à t'il?... Imaginez..." Ou peut-etre quelque-chose comme cela!)

I agree it's almost perfection. The only flaw I could offer would be Glen Close's voice coming from Andie MacDowell's mouth.

It's a dirty job,but I pay clean money for it.

This film really is terrible. I could not believe how badly acted it was, how thin the plot for an adaption, the terrible stereotypes (Why so anti-British?) and I was just thoroughly amazed that such a bad film could have been produced.

I quite agree maxou. I just caught the last hour on tv{I've seen the entire movie many times} and even after repeated viewings I still love it.My favorite scene is when Ian Holm's character is leaving the manor in the coach and Tarzan, in fear of losing his friend, runs after the coach and manages to slip the signet ring from Ian Holm.
Also, few films are as beautiful to look at as this one.Stunning. And with NO cgi.

I can't understand why so many people seem to hate this film...i thought it was wonderfully done! In fact, I was never really interested in the story of Tarzan, but this movie changed my mind!

Frankly i wouldn't take imdb rating too seriously. Once most movie rating are mostly bs.
