Ralph Richardson

i have to say, don't you think his character was such a cool grandfather?

he immediatley accepted his "feral" grandson and showed him real family in a world that tarzan just couldn't relate with.

Yes he was great in that, I think I remember him sliding down some stairs on a serving tray... I found out a few years ago that I am vaguely related to him and have always meant to take a greater interest in his films, few of which I have seen.

A great Shakespearean actor, this Richardson. Greystoke was the last film he ever made.

His best roles were as an eccentric. He was excellent in both "Four Feathers" and "The Shape of things to Come". He played it straight in an excellent portrayal as a strict and cold father in "The Heiress " - his other Academy Award nomination. If you haven't seen these films, catch them and be proud of your relative.

The elder Lord Greystoke and his grandson are both damaged by family tragedy: the son who has lost a father, and the father who has lost a son. Richardson played his role perfectly, and justly earned his Oscar nomination.
