I think it's wonderful! I would love to die like that, having fun as if I was young again.
He was ready to die, as Tarzan had come home and could carry on the family line.

When I saw this when it was released, it was so quiet in the cinema (that's how long ago it was!) that I could hear a woman crying during this scene. Bearing in mind it wasn't THAT emotional a moment, I assumed she was a big fan of Ralph Richardson's and - seeing as he'd died shortly before - was attaching a lot more to his death in the movie than the rest of us.

Wasn't it though? The grandfather was all Tarzan really had left think about all the people he had lost building up to that.

Agreed. They should have had some super storm roll into town like in Man of Steel when his father died. That was executed perfectly
