What a tremendous film this is - very much before its time in treating comic book/pulp novel fiction with realism and style.

shareYES, I posted on a different thread that this was one of the earliest "Nolanized" movies, filmed over 2 decades before Batman Begins. It was not a wild adventure story like Tarzan usually is but more of a drama. Jane was not some "damsel in distress" being kidnapped by evil villains she was just his love interest. This definitely was to Tarzan what Batman Begins was to Batman.
shareSpeaking of "Nolanized" you know what would have been BRILLIANT? TARZAN is a regular word, not a proper noun it can be used in a game of Scrabble. It means a very tough very strong man.
Someone should have said to him at some point "You are quite the tarzan aren't you?" which is a good description and it should have STUCK and become his "nickname".
