Where to buy the DVD?
Well I've looked just about everywhere, so I assume it hasn't been released on DVD in the U.S. Does anyone know where I could buy one online from Japan or somewhere else?

<Michael_Felsher> GODZILLA 1985 will not be happening anytime soon. We are not able to acquire the Japanese version and that is the main reason we want to release the film. Hopefully one day it will be cleared up.

I found the ORIGINAL GOJIRA 1984 on EBAY!!! I should be getting it in the mail soon!!!
Its the ORIGINAL UNCUT JAPANESE VERSION w/ ENGLISH SUBTITLES,
DVD, WIDESCREEN, REGION 0 (plays anywhere)
I can't wait to get it!

i heard that it will be released on dvd officially sumtime in 05...but yea ebay does have some pirated ones, i got one of them, which have pretty bad quality. I would expect much better picutre when its officially released.
sharefor now the best copy you will see is if you copy the laserdisc to a dvd recorder. and then play the dvd and hook it up to a upconverter to convert the signal to near hd quality. thats what i did. if you have questions about that email me at [email protected]

Its aggrivating that its pushing would-be buyers into buying bootlegs. It makes no sence ppl would pay for a "mockup" copy instead of the real thing. Maybe someday it will see a retail release. DVDS only came out in 1997, people been waiting almost 10 years for the dvd. TOOOO LONG.
shareAn eBay user named dashys is selling the U.S. version on DVD plus the entire soundtrack from the original Japanese version in a 2-disc set. I won it in one of his auctions and I'm awaiting its arrival. Couldn't find just the soundtrack so I got this.

If there are any Scandinavian fans here, it would please them to know that the original Japanese version of the movie is actually out in Sweden, of all places (I have no idea how they got the rights for it when Anchor Bay didn't). It is subbed in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish. It's really too bad they didn't include English subs (no dub, either), because it's a decent DVD. Not anamorphic though, but has a good DD 5.1 track.
It can be purchased at www.cdon.se. They also have a DVD of vs Biollante with identical specs.
wow...lets get a petition out or something to get this movie an official, region 1 release, this is getting ridiculous. This movie rocks, and all godzilla fans out there know it.

The Japanese version is now available to be purchased from online retailers off of Amazon at a reasonable price in both the DVD and Blu-ray formats.
