Why did Rob tear his own tent?

I never understood that part, why didn't he just look in the tent, no cause for it being ripped or scaring Trish.

Perhaps he deliberately slashed his own tent so that he could stay at Trish's.

reply

Yes, that's what I was thinking! Cunning fellow!

reply

Maybe he was trying to scare whoever could've been inside. Like a person stomping or making noise to scare animals.

reply

cause he was a real mook

reply

A mook? Whats a mook?

reply

I think it means the same thing as thug.

reply

I always thought that he assumed Jason was in there.

reply

Yeah he did think Jason was in there, cause a bit earlier he saw Jason or someone leaving his tent and his rifle was bent and broken and his map was tore up, so when he saw some shadowy figure inside his tent he assumed it was Jason again.

Better Question: Why the hell would decide to stay in a tent, out in the middle of the woods, with a maniac like Jason walking around? He could come at you from any angle and get the drop on you.

reply

To jump scare Trish of course! That's more important than any tent.

reply

i don't think it came across that well , i blame the editing / direction but he was out looking for jason after he heard the scream and knew someone was in his tent and thought this was the final moment of confrontation. imo.
