Question re: psychopathic personalities

I have often wondered if people like OJ Simpson and Jeffrey Macdonald ACTUALLY BELIEVE (in their sick minds) that they did not commit such atrocities, or are they just hell-bent on convincing everyone they are innocent?

It would seem to me that the only way they could continue living with themselves is to somehow truly believe they did not commit such heinous crimes against people they proclaim to have once loved. Or, perhaps their minds are so warped they just truly do not care what they did. Or, possibly, it is more important to their ego to have everyone approve of them, than for them to admit their guilt. I would think a confession would cleanse their soul, but again, I don't have enough psychiatric knowledge to even venture a guess.

Jeez, I feel guilty if I spend a day doing nothing, when I could be doing something productive! It's inconceivable to me to have something as horrendous as brutally murdering innocent human beings on my mind.

If you ever see him interviewed his voice cracks when talking about Kristin, Kimberly was killed by accident so he feels no remorse toward that, but he knows he intentionally killed Kristin, and I think he puts the whole blame on Collette that's the only way he can live with it, plus most psyc doctors will tell you that your brain can block out anything bad you done, so he may have convinced himself he is innocent.

He also most likely held her in his arms while he stabbed her. There is a special place for him one day.

Be kind. Rewind.

It's a few years later here but yes, some of these psychos do seem to actually convince themselves of their own lies. They're so narcissistic they block out any sense of their own wrong.

My dad was a sociopath, they discovered it when I was 17 and like MacDonald he wouldn't admit to his mistakes even though he was caught red handed it was always someone else's fault. He was also narcissistic most sociopaths are. He thought he was perfect and could do no wrong.I don't think MacDonald convinced himself that he's innocent, he just blames his actions on someone else, and I think deep down it's Colette he blames not Helena.

Most sociopaths who I've met have contempt and disdain for others, especially people who try to love and forgive them.
