I'm not an expert on this case but I was wondering if McDonald ever took a lie detector test?

Yes he did. The first few he took after the murders he failed, over the years after he convinced himself he was innocent he has passed.

I'm thinking it was the opposite for the hippie intruders. They first said they didn't do it and then convinced themselves they did do it years later.
