Coolest closing shot to a movie ever?

*cut to dark tunnel with light coming from the opposite end*

the transition in score kicks in as we see john eastland's figure slowing walking into the light. we then hear the sound effects editing of his footsteps over the score. we then see him bit by bit dropping pieces of his equipment. each time the drop is emphasized and accentued by the brilliant sound effects editing. we then see this is all happening with the exact same pace as the score; the whole scene is ridiculously in-sync with the score, that the pacing just sucks you in and doesn't let go. it's mesemerizing.

the whole film is framed magnificently in every shot, but the ending just blows my mind. i remember watching it over and over as a 4 year old when i had a pirated copy of this film like 17 years ago. i've now watched the first two exterminator films back to back, last night, for the first time in 10 years and they hit me in the face and reminded me amazing these 80's films really are.

I think the whole film is ridiculously in sync with the score.

hey man, did you ever end up getting your hands on that workprint? i really want to know what happened to his girlfriend.

also i'd like to note that i love how the factory looks in the wide shots of it during the final chase scene of the film. just the makup, color and design of it. it's like it was built to be in this movie!!!

Nah man...seems impossible. Did get the script though, complete different movie!

The factory (The washburn wire co. in NY) is recently completely demolished, some big mall is gonna replace it. Would've made a great site seeing spot.

I would love to see some pics of that building, I also think it looked made for the movie. Maybe some behind the scene pictures too. But again...i've bothered Mark Buntzman enough with questions. (He did promised me some promo material!).

howcome impossible? won't he make a copy of the workprint? i might try to email him and ask what happened to the exterminator's girlfriend. she was a perfect actress for the role. i love the little twitch/wave/passing of current thing she does with her shoulders when she's holding hands with that breakdance kid and is about to start dancing with them. and i just love the music during that scene, david spear is a genius.

it'd be cool to see promo material. both exterminator 2 and 1 and have aged magnificently. good guys in films these days try way too hard. ginty had the whole 'not trying too hard to be cool, really awesome with the ladies' thing down naturally and without any guile. just being 'mr-smooth' all the way. but a total 'all hell breaks loose' badass when pushed too far. it's a superb performance. i'd love to see him do a commentary track for both films.

I booked EXTERMINATOR 2 on a film fest on nov the 10th here in Belgium, it's gonna be awesome to see it again on big screen! It's been something like 22 years!

Anyway, both exterminator films should come out with the proper extras, specialy some commentary tracks!

Dude, i've mailed tons of people to get my hands on that workprint and the soundtrack...I gave up.

Ginty was perfect as the exterminator and I love the way EX2 picks up after the first one with him just getting up with the police radio, gets his gear and out of nowhere torches a couple of thugs.

That end was pretty cool. Both films had a style of their own I think. The main character was a dark hero in a world of s**t!

Apparently the film had a screening in Belgium at the Off Screen Festival recently.

Are you using a film print or a BluRay as the source for the projection of the film?
