Is the 'dead end' at the River Walk real? Because I don't remember one.

I watched this movie today for the first time in a while, and it made me remember something from years ago:

I went with my family on a trip to San Antonio and we visited the River Walk. Once back from San Antonio we recalled that this movie was shot there so we decided to rent it. Well at the part where Davey is chased by Rice in the River Walk he is stopped by a dead end (it's the scene where he kills him).

The thing is, I don't remember any dead end when we were there...and we must have walked the whole thing (it was a blast, and if I ever get married I want my honeymoon there). But I am curious, was the dead end added in? Or was it something that was there but changed in the years since the film was made and I visited San Antonio?

So I hear Dads dead, hey is that eggnog?

Just imagining the River Walk as a real thing, there would be two ends, probably. If either of them did not have a walkway or stairway going up from the river bank, then you would need to walk back to find a passageway up from the river bank, and that would represent a dead-end section of the River Walk.

It seems like a strange, negative thing to put on a touristy walkway, however, so it may not be labeled with signage as a "dead end". But it seems appropriate for this movie.

It's just that I walked the River Walk (granted it was a while ago) but I don't recall any dead ends the same way that they show it in the movie. Which is why I think it was made up for the movie.

Even when the pathway did end (there were now walls though), there were stairs up to the street or some other way. All I'm saying is if Davey really did come to a place where the path ended, he'd be able to still escape by running up the stairs.

But if there were stairs up from there, wouldn't that mean that it would not be called a "dead end"?

All I'm saying is I think they added that dead end there for dramatic effect. Cause when I actually walked the River Walk with my family that dead end did not exist. Now it's entirely possible that they removed it in the time since they made the movie and when I visited there with my family (which I'm sure was about ten years ago).

I was just wondering if anyone who's been to San Antonio more recently than I have could have verified if there was a dead end there or not. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be happening.

I'm sure that at least some of it has to be fake, because they wouldn't let them put bullet holes in a real concrete wall.

The Riverwalk scenes were all filmed on location. Several people have found and filmed videos of the sites in the movie. Search You Tube for them.

The interior Alamo scenes were not real since it is not legal to photograph inside the Alamo. They had to build a replica interior.
