love the movie, but i'd like to see a remake

I am a fan, but with all the pointless 80's remakes happening, it's a shame this doesn't get a reboot. I think this movie was slightly a head of its time. I think it would work really well today. One thing that wasn't great was the cast. Henry Thomas was great, but the rest of the cast was just ok or bad. The little blonde girl was annoying. And I think Dabney Coleman was good, but they needed someone a little cooler. George Clooney would be awesome as Jack. In the right hands they could take this to the next level and make the movie this could've been. But they need to take it serious. If they try to make it a comedy, it would be a big mistake.
