Blu Ray release = extended version

When I watched the Blu ray version this Christmas, I thought a spotted a few things that I didn't see before. Upon examining the covers of both the standard DVD and the Blu ray, I noticed that the Blu Ray edition lasts 101 minutes, while the standard dvd is 96 minutes. That's a difference of about 5 minutes. \

Were some scenes cut from the former release, and put back in the latter one?

Owning all three versions (VHS, DVD,& Blu-Ray) I have noticed on the back of the VHS cassette it says its on for 100 minutes, after re-watching it, i can honestly say i cant see anything different with it nor with the Blu-Ray compared with the DVD version.

Is the Blu-ray noticeably better than the regular DVD as far as picture sharpness? I know Blu-rays usually are but have also seen some that weren't much better. Thanks.

Edit: Well, I bought the Blu-ray and unfortunately the picture quality is exactly the same as the regular DVD and there are no extended scenes or any other special features whatsoever. Don't know why the running time is a few minutes different because I saw no changes or additions. I will say, though, that the sound is better on the Blu-ray -- background noises and voices were a bit clearer and the music was more even. Best of all, that horrible "buzz saw" noise when the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come appears was toned down and sounded less harsh.

I've got the Blu-Ray and my copy is perfect picture quality and is miles better than the DvD format.

Not trying to be a jerk, but are you sure the blu-ray is connected to an HD input of the TV? (needs to be either HDMI or R-G-B-R-W component input) and you do indeed have the blu ray disc (and not the standard def disc that often accompanies the blue ray?). Most blu ray players can be connected at standard definition.

I have the blu ray and the picture is spectacular.

It is bad to drink Jobus rum. Very bad.

No offense taken. Yes, we have the Blu-ray player connected to the HD input of the TV. Most Blu-ray movies look absolutely stunning on our TV so I will double-check this year to make sure we have the right disc in correctly.

Maybe it's my old eyes -- the horror! ;-)

I just saw this on the Hallmark Channel. And, with all the commercials, I wonder if there weren't any scenes cut out.
