The 1951 Alastair Sim version or the 1970 Albert Finney version.

This one with George C. Scott and the 1951 Alastair Sim version are pretty close for me. Each is great in its own respective way. (IMHO)

This George C. Scott version is my personal favorite. It brings back memories of watching it every Christmas when I was a kid. Last Christmas I finally read the book and really enjoyed it.

The 1951 version starring Alastair Sim followed by this one with George C. Scott and the 1999 Patrick Stewart.

reply

Call me crazy, but the early 60s Mr. Magoo version

So far I have seen, in order, as far as I can recall, the Mr. Magoo version, the Muppet version, the Alistair Sim version, the Patrick Stewart version and now the George C. Scott version. I have to say that I like them all very much.

I would have to say that my favorite, so far, is a tie between Alistair Sim and Patrick Stewart, with a slight edge to Sim, just because it's an old movie. But Sim and Stewart are equal in my mind, as to ability.

I liked Mr.Magoo's Christmas Carol and The Flintstones Christmas Carol was good too also. But I really loved Mickey's Christmas Carol. The George C.Scott was is really good too.

Me too! I love Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol! I love the music, and I love Ghost of Christmas Past. My 2nd favorite is the Muppet Christmas Carol (no, I am not a little kid :)

I like this one the best, probably because I grew up to it and am more familiar with it. I also like the Alistair Sim version. WKRP did a pretty good take-off on this as well, with Jennifer as the ghost of Christmas past, Venus Flytrap as the ghost of Christmas present, and Johnny Fever as the ghost of Christmas future!

George C. Scott's version is my favorite. I think he was born to play Scrooge.

A Christmas Carol aka Scrooge - 1951, with Alistair Sim. Might just be because I grew up watching this one, but it's the classic IMHO.

Sim in the 1951 version is, for me, light years ahead of all the rest.

Don't trust reality. After all, it's only a collective hunch.

The 1984 George C Scott version I by far my favorite. The quality of acting brings a more serious tone to the story that so many of the others lack. One of the best Marley's ghosts bar none!

Special mention to the Patric Stewart version for including many of the story points from the original story like all the places the Ghost of Christmas Present brought Scrooge... the lighthouse and prison. That was a great touch. Plus Stewart's first laugh Christmas morning- Wonderful!
