*Hopkins, Lewis & Crew should have fasted ?

A wonderful film, but slightly spoiled by the fact that Hopkins & much of the crew stranded at sea for a period starving, finally arrived at the port still looking like rather portly.

I get that dehydration can play havoc with the metabolism, but they really didn't look like they were starving. Perhaps they should have fasted for a prolonged period, as 'actors' to add more realism with their demeanour ?

Just a thought, please don't give me 50 lashes for the suggestion,

...but still a wonderful film. *

That’s exactly what Tom Hanks did in Castaway. He lost a ton of weight between the first act and the third act to appear like he had really been marooned on an island for years. When it’s a historical movie like The Bounty, you can lose a little of the suspension of disbelief like you experienced when you can tell the actors have been staying at a 4 star hotel between takes. I will say that I was very impressed with realism when it came to the native dress (or lack thereof) of the Polynesian women.

Yes, Hanks losing the weight certainly added to the realism.

I see what you mean about the women’s ‘costumes’ haha.*
