Wow. Pretty good movie, but (major spoilers) question for other viewers

Who else figured out that it was his new friend who was doing the following/killing pretty quickly?

I mean, I figured out almost as soon as I saw the killer had that weird face. I figured out he had some kind of mask on. The way the movie played that part, it just wasn't subtle at all... "I'm going to Seattle...."... and then basically 5 minutes later, the girl is getting stalked/killed in his view, when Sam was the one who introduced the dude to the telescope/her in the first place.

Also it doesn't make 100% sense really that he would be able to somehow figure out that he would be obsessed with this girl or that he was a peeping tom, but this movie rocked anyway. I really thought I'd picked a dud to watch after about 40 minutes because that whole mall chase/stalking part seemed to go on forever without actually providing that much excitement. Then it got real freaky/interesting really quickly when the drill sequence started later that night.

This was such a good one. Is Dressed to Kill as good as this?

Dressed To Kill is considered a better movie by most, I like both movies, I would say Dressed To Kill is better.

Y'know, I could eat a peach for hours

I don´t think there´s much point in trying to dissect this film based on common, mundane logic...

Dressed To Kill is almost as much fun as Body Double - and perhaps even better shot.

If Dressed to kill is bringing out the dead, then body double is after hours

I think even though Dressed to Kill is most probably the better film, Body Double is more of a personal favorite of mine. I find it more watchable and entertaining. It's a strange, yet engrossing combination of having Hitchcockian elements, but also being a slick, campy, lurid 80s movie. Dressed to Kill is more of a highly stylized Hitchcockian suspenser that almost feels like a copycat of the master himself. You might as well watch an actual Hitchcock film if you're going to watch DtK. With BD, it's interesting aside from all the Hitchcock nods.

You seem to be a younger viewer (I know--younger than whom?). So I'll give you a tip on two really great films: de Palma's Body Double and Dressed to Kill are both homages to Alfred Hitchcock's masterpieces "Vertigo" (1958) and "Rear Window" (1954). If you enjoyed these, you will love those. They are the originals, and two of the finest motion pictures ever made. Try them out. (My quote below is from Vertigo)

while rear window and vertigo are great better movies... i find body double and dressed to kill more fun to watch and more modern even by todays standards thanks to the adult content of sex and violence... as opposed to hitchcocks great films which were a lot more subtle... subtle is good but for fun time... i go with the 2 de palmas

I saw this when it came out (I'm pretty old) and I couldn't agree with OP more. If you've only just seen it, I imagine the twist must seem terribly lame. But even all those years ago the disguise gave it away. It didn't even seem to make much effort to hide who was behind the mask.

I seem to remember being a bit surprised about the sexual content, but again, it'll be tame now. But yeah, pretty decent film. I'm gonna watch it again.

The problem with the film was that the killer was easy to guess and the make up effects did little to hide this.

Its that man again!!
