Anyone else watch this on HBO late at night in the 80's?

Anyone else watch this on HBO late at night in the 80's like 5 times?

I remember thinking it was edgy and sophisticated at the time. Now it seems pretty silly but I can't think of another film that brings me back more to late nights of 80's HBO. That's probably half the reason why I still love it now.

OMG nightfly, I know EXACTLY what you mean. This is the epitome of what I'd call an "event" HBO premiere, which was a big deal in the'80s - people would plan a Saturday Night around the first cable TV showing of a famous movie from the previous year (had to watch my adjective there - "famous" as opposed to necessarily "big" or "great"). There were many in the early days of cable TV, but the 2 "events" like that that stand out in my mind are Grease in 1979 and Body Double in, I guess, 1985. I remember there was a big build up to the premiere, and HBO showed the HELL out of Body Double after that! It seemed like it was always on LOL. Definitely brings back a lot of memories I associate with that particular time! (Speaking of "events", don't forget what a big-name director DePalma was back then...)

I am actually watching BD right now - from Netflix - and I'm having flashbacks to the mid-'80s. In addition to what I've already written, I think a lot of why this movie has 1985 stamped all over it is that for all the hype at the time, it has kinda fallen off the map...I'd bet a lot of people don't even remember it. I do remember at the time there was such controversy...

I used to watch it on HBO late at night as a teenager. For the plot, of course, not for the nude scenes. ;)

I remember! I was 17... Two things I remember most were the creepy guy with the drill and how beautiful Deborah Shelton was..

Yes! And after the awesome credits sequence rolled, I immediately tuned into the second showing of USA Network's original "Night Flight". Nothing like the early 80's!

In fact, watching this movie immediately transports me back to that time like nothing else.

Yes! This movie was a staple of HBO Free Weekends back in the 80's, along with Gymkata.

5 times? More like 50. Purely for the artistic elements of fine film-making, of course.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
