What is the Point of a Rotating Bed?

This must be a '70s thing. You don't hear of them anymore.

Imagine trying to find sheets that fit? You'd have to get them custom made.

reply

Sheets??? Try finding a mattress or box spring!!!

reply

Never heard of them. What's your point?

The Fabulous all-female rock band, Fanny, and their top hit "Butter Boy." Lyrics, "He thought I'd be impressed by his rotating bed, such a women's impress..." Mind you, the song starts out with "He was HARD as a rock, but I was ready to roll." Great 1970's Feminist slut-rock. That was actually the first and last time I had heard about a rotating bed until this movie. I guess you need to be "hard as a rock" to have one, and most men aren't, so you never hear about those beds anymore.

There is no point of a rotating bed; it is round.

Thank you! I'm here all week...tip your waitress. :)

I wouldn't think there would be a point, either, other than dizzy sex.

Strangely, I mentioned above the song 'Butter Boy' and it just so happens it's about the singers brief love affair with David Bowie, R.I.P. I guess David Bowie once had a rotating bed.

So, while if not watching TV or not wanting to stare at the partition, the position can be changed to enjoy the magnificent panoramic view through the windows.

Also, did anyone else notice that Holly Body knew what to do to activate the rotating when she was there with Scully, thereby indicating that she had been there before?

She could have been there before, but not necessarily, because she already knew how to operate a rotating bed. We learned that when she told him there was a bed like it in "Star Whores."

Austin Powers baby.

Perfect for Feng Shui. Just rotate it to your feng shui position any time you'd like!

Also, very easy to make up the bed, change the sheets and comforters. No walking back and forth!

I'd definitely love a rotating round bed!

reply

this is the answer. you don't have to spin around constantly, you can just rotate it to whatever angle you want, like if the sun is coming into the window you could adjust your position

reply

the point is that you're rich and can afford such nonsense, and then next week buy a regular bed

reply

It might be nice if you have windows all around with a nice view.

I knew a couple in the '70s who had a round bed (that did not rotate). I don't know where they got sheets for it. The '70s was also the era of waterbeds. A decade of bedding nonsense.

The ideal solution (if you have all the views of course) is a normal queen or king sized bed (bedhead and all) on a hidden turntable. A round bed really is peak silliness. It would feel weird just sleeping on it, not to mention the pillows always falling off.
