Melanie Griffith is very good in this movie.

I know it almost seems like the trendy thing to bash Melanie Griffith for any number of reasons (actually, that particular trend probably hit its peak about 12 years ago), but so many people seem to forget that, back in the day, when Melanie got a role that was right for her, it was impossible to take your eyes off her. She is completely believable AND entertaining AND fresh as a savvy, somewhat offbeat porn star. She also some moments where she is very funny. I am very pleased that she won the National Society of Film Critics' Best Supporting Actress for her performance as "Holly". She was, I thought, equally good in "Something Wild" and I loved her in "Working Girl", too (glad for the Oscar nod), but that movie was probably her peak. (I even think she was quite good in her small-ish role from 1975's "Smile") I have a friend who says she was very good in "Crazy in Alabama", but I have yet to see that movie.

Yes, it seems like Griffith could do no wrong in the 80s. She was terrific in this. Working Girl was sadly her peak, though.

She was so much better here than in "Working Girl." She overdid the baby voice after "Body Double." And by the time of "Working Girl" her face and body were puffy and wasted-looking.

He had her moments, for sure.

Good initial comment but denis-38's reply hits the bulls-eye.

Deborah Shelton impressed me more in this film but I liked Melanie too

I liked Melanie in this. but she was very very thin.

she was great in the 80's. Lot's of good films for her to star in.

The '80s embraced her quirky charm; the '90s tried to turn her into a dramatic leading actress (Shining Through and A Stranger Among Us) and people didn't buy it.

Body Double, Something Wild and Working Girl make up the Melanie Griffith trilogy of perfect MG performances (she's also great in Cherry 2000, another offbeat performance.

Along with the big three mentioned in this thread, I think she is very good in her few scenes opposite Paul Newman in "Nobody's Fool" (1994)

Agree completely. She's so funny in this film -I should have guessed when he didn't know what a cum shot was!
