Gun held to Axel's head in Maitland's warehouse

Hi,

According to http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Beverly_Hills_Cop_%281984%29#Smith_.26_Wesson_639 the gun Victor Maitland's henchman Casey (played by Michael Champion) is holding to Axel's head in this scene near the end of the movie is a Smith & Wesson 639. Now, I don't know anything about guns. But to me (and what I understand from the article on imfdb) this is a "regular shooter" with no extra gadgets or something.
But what's that thing Casey is holding in is left hand behind Axel's back near his right shoulder? It's visible in the shots over Axel's shoulder showing Maitland talking to him. It looks like an air pump or something. Is that something belonging to the gun or something completely different?

It's Axel's shirt. He's got a big handful of the fabric.
