rotary beater scene--please explain!

What is the significance of this? I just don't get it!

No significance...just Tom being perverted to Tawny in that scene...the "Aunt jemima" treatment as I remember.

The best way to predict your future is to create it.

there's gotta be an explanation for this . . . he does it first in his apartment, chasing her up the stairs with the beater. Then, at the wedding, he brings it out just after the ceremony is completed, yelling "Now it's legal!" I figure there is some filthy joke behind this but I don't know what it is.

far from the things of man, far from the things of man

reply

and...there's not.

reply

It was just something the writers thought up to appeal to the dirty minds of the viewers, as well as give them something to ponder on 20 years after the movie came out.

reply

also kind of a ripoff of the Bill Murray / PJ Soles kitchen scene in "Stripes".

reply

hey, great! So, what happened during the rotary beater scene in "Stripes?"

away from the things of man, away from the things of man

reply

Actually, it wasn't a rotary beater, it was a spatula, but the inspiration is pretty clear.

Yep, turning the symbolic tools of female kitchen drudgery into sex toys. There's a freight-train load of irony in there...

Bill Murray used an ice scream scoop in the scene with PJ Soles in 'Stripes'. He flicked the scoop release lever and she went 'ohhh' a couple of times.

reply

It wasn't a spatula! Look closer. He spins the handle as he runs towards her (and she runs away screaming).

away from the things of man, away from the things of man

reply

LOL, OK, I've got this on beta and I'll have to look again. Maybe he used more than one utensil? I'm sure I remember him sliding a spatula under her butt.

reply

Yeah, he goes through a few different utensils. First it's the spatula, when he's uses on her while getting her hot on top of the oven. Then I think it's the ice scream scoop, to which she oohs and aahs appropriately, and finally he takes the beater with them when they adjourn to the bedroom, or more specifically the trunk at the foot of the bed. "Well, that was interesting."

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

I believe they meant the spatula was in stripes.

reply

You obviously to go to the doctor to have that brain cloud looked at, you're a blithering
idiot. Actually, I see this topic is 10 years old... you're probably dead by now.

reply

No, still breathing! Sorry to disappoint you!

I'm English, and if there's anything more deplorable than our cooking, it's our lovemaking

i think it´s pretty obvious, what it means is that he is going to insert that thing in debbie´s vagina and make it spin, either that or i have seen to much porn :D

see ya!!!!

reply

Hey, you forgot the rolling pin!

"I've got a weird thing for girls who say aboot."

The whole movie was Tom Hanks doing a bad impression of Bill Murray. The rotary beater was an intentional copy of the Stripes scene.

reply

Thanks to the movie "Bachelor Party" I learned that a silly bus driver can marry a gorgeous woman because he is kinky with kitchen appliances.

reply

The egg beater scene is a dated sex joke from the 1970s and 1980s. Back in the day, when movies and TV shows wanted to joke about kinky sex, they would always have the guy pull out an egg beater or something stupid like that so the audience would go, "Ha ha, how perverted!" You'll see this type of joke a lot on Night Court, because Dan was a huge pervert.
