Favorite scene

What's your favorite scene?

Mine is when Mozart and Salieri are working together on the Mass Requiem. The fact Tom Hulce wasn't even nominated for that scene is a crime. :)

The Requiem scene is just incredible. Probably in the argument for the single best scene ever, let alone the best in Amadeus. But I also really like the scene at the beginning, when Salieri meets the priest and plays him three tunes--two of his own, then Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

Too many to go over, but two come immediately to mind:

The scene when Salieri, in a moment of brief and complete honesty, tells an upset Mozart that he is the greatest composer known to him.

The final scene. Dawn breaks to reveal the young priest is totally emotionally wrung out by the tragic story that the old Salieri relayed to him.

Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.

I love all the scenes mentioned, and I share the admiration for F. Murray Abraham's performance, but I think Tom Hulce's performance is sometimes overlooked. I really love the scenes of him conducting, like the one with Katerina Cavallieri singing an aria. The way he conducts with such joy and enthusiasm is wonderful to watch.

Not only is the 2 of them working together on the Confutatis my favourite scene of this movie, it's one of my favourite scenes among all movies I've ever seen.

Don Giovanni, for sure (along with the rest of his stage plays). But, of course, The Mass Requiem is also truly awesome.

Too many to list, a lot of Abraham monologues, including: At that moment I knew. Beyond any doubt, he'd had her. The creature had had my darling girl.
