I'm actually ok with a Kev Smith reboot.
This could be interesting.

I like Kevin Smith. However, it would be a crime against humanity for ANYONE to even think about a remake!!! This film is perfect. One should NOT desicrate a classic.
shareI think this movie needs a reboot. Because the universe around the movie is much bigger than any one movie can ever show. There are so many stories in the Buckaroo Banzai universe that we need a lifetime of movies to tell them all. The creators have been pushing for some kind of sequel for 32 years. And if Kevin Smith is the man to bring it to fruition, then so be it.
And if the new incarnation is not good, who cares. The original is still there, as great as it ever was. It won't be ruined, it won't be tainted. It will remain a classic, for generations to come.
Agreed. I'm a huge Bonzai fan but I've also liked Kevin Smith since I saw Mallrats in the 5th grade up through now listening to all his podcasts (I'm 32). But I've been feeling for a while like he needs to challenge himself more with the material he creates. And I can't think of a greater challenge than adapting this material to any medium, even another movie.
