Tony leaving the St. Louis Cardinals?

I can't remember...why did Tony leave baseball? Was it an injury, or was it because his wife died? I THINK it was an injury?

Yeah, it was an injury, I think he hurt his pitching arm and wasn't able to throw as well anymore.

In one of the last season's episodes, Tony say's he stretched a double into a triple and when sliding into third base he injured his shoulder. The injury finished his career.
