You're sick. Not only was Jonathan not gay but being gay is not an asset. You should be ashamed.

@PrincessMagical: He may not have been portrayed as gay on the show, but in the later seasons anybody's gaydar would be pinging off the charts. Although not typical of all gays, you have to admit it's fairly stereotypical... and you can tell it from the way he spoke, his mannerisms, and overall body-language.

His lines may have been written for a straight teenage boy, but that... he was not.

So were you asking the question about the character, or the actor?

The actor, Danny P., is out as being gay for quite some time now, but well after the show wrapped.
I don't believe the character Jonathan in WTB was ever portrayed as gay, but the actor certainly blurred the character.
He wasn't "flaming", but there was little doubt during the show.

Contrast him with Rock Hudson, who was only outed when he was diagnosed with full-blown AIDS. Even in his later days before then, there were few signs.
That diagnosis sent HUGE shockwaves through Hollywood and around the world, and a LOT of his costars and people he worked with to the doctors for testing... Unfortunately, some got bad news.

Another closeted actor playing straight was the "Dad" in THE BRADY BUNCH.
In later interviews, he related how he was outright terrified over his first kissing scene with Florence (the "Mom", his wife). Although he didn't emphasize it, I believe it was being worried he would be outed... Oddly enough, even as a kid myself, I could tell there was something a little different about him, but I didn't know anything about "gay" back then.

BTW, please notice the first response was deleted, and the response to that one has been criticised pretty strongly... What *we* see in this thread is probably more a response the the deleted reply, more than a comment. Go a little easy people, especially in those cases.

That makes me sad :( Well... I hope he his happy at least!

He indicated in past interviews (please don't ask for links; these are random television interviews I came across at one time or another) that he was happy working in retail, and that it bugged him that people just assumed he was down and out because of it. He seemed to be a very upbeat person in general.

I think he just never got hung up on Hollywood or having an acting career and is satisfied living a "regular" life.

@PrincessMagical You are just too over the top and too stupid for reality aren't you? The OP just asked if Jonathan was gay? The actor who played is gay, but the character wasn't. But as captainamerica-5 said, when he got older you could see it a little more visibly.

No reason for you to call people sick just for asking if someone (even a fictional character) was gay or not. You of all people should be ashamed.

Good to hear he is going strong!
Too many child actors do not make the transition well at all.

So many of the Hollywood folks think they will get cast for project after project, "just because", and go nuts on their spending. Unfortunately, some have the misfortune to have their business managers and/or parents spend what they had as income, leaving them with nothing, or less (debts).

Some cling to the Hollywood dream, and spend money trying to get that next casting, and it never comes, but the money has still gone. Then the worst cases spent their own money on drugs and partying.

One of the more notable characters in the movie JURASSIC PARK, was the blond girl, granddaughter of the old man who built the park. Apparently, the actress's contribution to that movie was her only acting role, and she is now a known artist, also distanced from her Hollywood past, and doing well.

Former Who's the Boss Star Is Now Selling Tupperware

SEP. 30, 2010
By US Weekly Staff

Former child star Danny Pintauro -- he played scrappy Jonathan Bower on 80s sitcom Who's the Boss -- has a surprising new gig.

His new career: Tupperware salesman.

As first unearthed by Perez Hilton, Pintauro, now 34, recently launched a page on the official Tupperware site -- enticing potential customers to host a "Tupperware party" with him in their home.

"My name is Daniel and I am a brand new Tupperware Consultant," his intro reads.

"I'm here to party with you and show you that Tupperware is sexy, hip and not just in your grandmother's kitchen! Look out America! Here we come!"

Adds the former star: "If you live in Southern California, I'd love to come to your house and have a party...If you DON'T live in Southern California, I'd love to throw you a party too....but that's a bit trickier (care to fly me there?)."

Pintauro's bio on the site doesn't mention his Hollywood past. "I love to cook, I love to throw parties (my friends call me Martha when I plan a party)," he says, "And I LOVE to save money. I have three dogs [and] I live in Los Angeles."

According to IMDB, Pintauro didn't work much in film and TV after Who's the Boss (costarring Tony Danza, Alyssa Milano and Judith Light) ended its 8-year run in 1992.

He appeared in a 2010 episode of The Secret Life of an American Teenager and in the 2007 film The Still Life. A graduate of Stanford University, Pintauro came out as gay in 1997.

I suspected he was gay long before he ever came out; in fact it seemed obvious even on the show. His mannerisms, voice, hair, everything. Glad he finally came out.
