Remake

I wish somebody would remake The tripods as a three tv movies. Now that would be real event t.v. The new doctor who has proved that sci fi can be a ratings winner and i am sure a new version of these classic novels would be a hit as well.

I always found it irritating that the original series didn't have a proper ending. I don't know if that 2007 remake of "The Tripods" is still going ahead or not. I'd like someone to do a TV serial of "The Death of Grass", made in the same style as the 1981 version of "The Day of the Triffids".

Germany made TV adaptations of "The Guardians" and "Empty World" in the 80s but I haven't seen those. I think a new version of "Empty World" would be good too. But people would probably compare it to "Survivors".

If the hollywood remake does go ahead i dont think it will work. The story would work much better on t.v. A t.v. version of "The Death Of Grass" would be good.

I would love to see the Tripods trilogy successfully adapted. I suppose with TV there's more time to draw out the details of the plot. If a movie company managed to make a brilliant, rip-roaring big screen adaptation that reached a wide audience it would probably be a mixed blessing.

"The Lord of the Rings" was successfully adapted and praised by critics and fans alike. Unfortunately The IMDb message boards have also attracted a horde of trolls. Can you imagine the stupid things trolls might say about the Tripods?

"Are the Masters gay?"
"Are the Free Men gay?"
"Why no Free Women?"
"This is a rip-off of War of the Worlds!"

I shudder to think of it.

Shudder is the right word.Leave the trolls with there middle earth and if that doesnt work try a cricket bat.It worked with zombies.

I don't know whether you were aware of it but Cornel Wilde made a version of 'The Death of Grass' called "No Blade of Grass" - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066154/ It's was a pretty poor production though.
