I had no idea. I remember watching the first season on PBS in Tulsa. It ended with them at the White Mountains if memory served. Had no idea they had filmed the second book. I'll have to see if I can find the box set here.
I have to disagree with you, on being interesting to watch. The second book, The City of Gold and Lead, is by far the best of the Tripods books, especially when it moves into the city and you learn more about the Masters. The TV series really started to deviate widely from the book, and in doing so, loses all its horrific charm. This is probably the single greatest reason the show didn't survive to a third season.
If this gets remade, they need to have enough sense to stick to the souorce material more closely.
Well, I did like the second series. It was just that after seeing it I read the second book and I couldn't believe the liberties taken with it, that's all. But again, considering how the book had the city, they couldn't have done it on TV, a visual medium.
Yeah, but where the heck did Cognoscs come from? Just too many liberties taken, IMO. The city itself would have been nearly impossible to do right in the '80s.
The Power Elite was another liberty, as well as the Black Guards thing. I don't think you could do the city the way it is in the book on the screen literally.
