Oh Man! I remember this character; his name was EZ. I was fortunate enough to have seen this show during the original run and I thought that dude was very funny. He and Jack made this short lived show viewable in my opinion. If this would make it out on DVD I would definitely buy it. Along with "The Ropers" (a show I did not get to see during its original run).
They are showing the first appearance of E.Z. Taylor right now on TV Land.
I forgot about how different (and goofy) the supporting characters were.
Just watched a bunch of episodes today on TVland, and it seemed like the poor guy only got four or five lines per episode.
He is kind of a predecessor to Kramer, if you think about it. Crazy, goofy, wild hair and personality. Just maybe if they had given him some better material. Some guys make it big, some guys get cancelled after the first season. That's showbiz.
EZ appears to me to be a rip-off of Bingo from Joanie Loves Chachi. EZ though is even less funny than Bingo was if that is even possible.
shareThis show isn't very good. Ritter was a great actor, but everyone else in it stunk. The surfer dude was terrible, Vicky was NOT funny. Vicky's father was decent at best. I feel sorry for Ritter. He was much too funny to be associated with those poor actors and that poor of a show.
shareVicky wasn't a poor actor, just wasn't funny. I've never seen an episode of TAC with EZ in it but I think they should have used Filepe (no idea how to spell that) But I can't be sure since i haven seen an episode with EZ.
If I had done the show Jack would have married Vicky and her father would be the land lord. That was a good idea. However EZ would not exist, Felipe would continue to guest star. Larry and Janet would be supporting characters.
If we forget religion, and just concentrate on acting human, something is going right.
Wasn't the actor who played "EZ" on THREE'S A CROWD the same actor who played the surfer guy on JOANIE LOVES CHACHI (surprisingly another failed spinoff)?
shareI saw the series on TV back in the 1980s. The spinoff characters were too far different from the original series and the new series lost much of its popularity. While the spinoff did have quite a few good episodes, it really didn't seem as funny as the original. Replacing Mr. Furley and Larry with Mr. Bradford and EZ was a bit of a letdown.
shareThe surfer was a poor imitator of Spicoli from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" he was a terrible actor he looked like he had tourettes or Parkinsons!
shareonly reason i hated the show. not joking
