Two Robins- characters that didn't even notice?

It was an inspired choice to select a totally different 'Robin' character (ie. now an upper class heir to an earldom), when Praed left, but in series 3 there's barely ever a mention of Robin (not Robert, later turned 'into' Robin by Herne)

Marian falls in love again, with 'Robin' and barely ever mentions 'Robin'?

Adam Bell says that he "has heard lots about" Robin, yet no-one seems to mention that he is not Robin, but 'Robert' the replacement?

Neither Guisburne or the Sheriff mention a now-blonde 'Robin', despite chatting about the body of Robin being missing earlier?

There are countless other occasions where the original leader, Robin of Sherwood, son of Ailric of Loxley, has seemingly been forgotten?

First remember that series 3 was set a full year after the end of series 2. Marion doesn't say Robin's name but several times she clearly references him

AS for hearing lots about Robin Hood, it's about the legend of his actions not what he looked like.

The sheriff knows Loxley is dead, and they find out early on who picked up Robin Hood's mantle so they know it's Huntingdon.

She falls in love despite herself (they only kiss towards the end of the series) and specifically says that she can't bear the thought of her 'Robin' dying again - it's this that causes her to go into a monastery when she believes Robin has been killed again.

She's really Tyler Durden/Keyser Soze/A Man/A Ghost/Dreaming/His sled

I suppose each new 'Robin' as chosen by the wise demi-God Herne was accepted simply as Robin, no matter his appearance?

Praed's character being the first in this TV series, but one of a long [mythical] historical line?

reply

I think Robin's acceptance lies in his actions to help the people. In the beginning of season 3 it is stated that it had been a year since Robin of Locksley's death. So the people hadn't seen Robin Hood for at least a year.
