Anyone notice the star cameo?

In The Cross of St.Ciricus, a "professional beggar" tries to gain entry to the abbey, but is cast out by the canny abbott.

The 'beggar' was...Martin Shaw (a fan of the show who asked to be an extra)!

Or were you too busy getting over the unintended flashes of Will's a$$ as he climbs the cliff? Lol

reply

Yes, both Bodie (Lewis Collins) and Doyle (Martin Shaw) from 'The Professionals' were in RoS.

(Lewis Collins was Philip Mark in the episode 'The Sheriff of Nottingham.')

Did you know Michael Praed played a Terrorist in the episode 'No Stone' of 'The Professionals'?

The Witch is back!

reply

Yes, I remember Lewis with the dodgy and very UN-medieval quiff! The Sheriff called him a "prancing catamite" or something? Not a compliment! Lol.

I wonder how the show would have shaped up in the late 80's had Goldcrest not gone under?

According to the commentary on the DVD that line was an adlib. And both actors kept trying to upstage the other.

There are a few star cameo's in this now. A couple that I've just seen weren't famous then but they are now. John Nettles (Midsommer Murders), Daniel Peacock (Much in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves). There are a few others but I can't remember their names but I thought, yep, I know you... What a good excuse to watch all three series again. :D

Gemma Craven - (Lilith) was in "Hollyoaks" and "The Clinic."

Rula Lenska - (Morgwyn of Ravenscar) was in "EastEnders" and "Coronation Street."

Angharad Rees - (Jennet of Elsdon) was in "Poldark."

Angharad Rees - (Jennet of Elsdon) was in "Poldark."

She also guest starred in an episode of Remington Steele - "Blue Blooded Steele" which aired in November of 1984. (It was one of several episodes that filmed in England)

John Rhys Davies - (King Richard) was in "The Lord of the Rings" and he also appeared with Michael Praed in "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne" as Alexandre Dumas.

John guested on Legend of the Seeker as Horace/Panis Rahl in the season 2 episode "Vengence".

I think many RoS fans would enjoy Legend of the Seeker. Check it out and if you like it, help us save the show!

Just to say John Nettles was already a big star on British TV back then, thanks to Bergerac.

John Nettles wasn't really known here in Oz until Midsommer Murders. :)

Just saw another: Michael Craig. :D

I'm sure there are others... anyone?

Valentine Pelka saved that scar that Nasir gave him for Kronos in Highlander. He was also in Queen of Swords, First Knight and Under the Tuscan Sun.
