Yes, I was aware of this, and Mark Ryan endorsed the idea. I'd love it to happen - I do know that most of the surviving cast are up for it, even Ray Winstone - it was put forward to a TV company some time ago (according to a Clive Mantle interview) and they turned it down! Ray Winstone is quite a draw himself, nowadays, and no one has done a decent Robin Hood on TV since Robin of Sherwood. I'd like to see Michael Praed return, somehow (I was never a Jason Connery fan) and it will be a little sad not having Robert Addie as Gisburne, but it would be great to see.

Same here - there isn't much need to try and improve it - except perhaps the odd electronic sound effect, which sounds a little cheesy nowadays.

I recall hearing something along those lines. I think a treatment like Robin & Marion would be a nice ending for Robin of Sherwood (and a little apt if played by Jason Connery) but death has shown it has no place in the R.O.S world. The death scene was played out beautifully by Michael Praed, and since Robin is replaced, any further 'deaths' would be superfluous.
Anyway, we'll see what happens. Maybe something special could come from it.

I wonder how it would pan out with older characters now? Undoubtedly they would intend to reap more profits by having the original cast rather than unknowns or replacements?
If not Connery, then who as Robin or Guisburne?

When I saw that the original cast had shown interest, I assumed that all of them would take part? Could they be coaxed back for a 'labour of love'?
I suppose that the youth of the characters helped make the 80's series, but they could still cut it.

I dunno. Such seems to be the affection for the show that I can actually imagine the original cast coming out of retirement or taking a big pay cut to do this. The issue is actually where the MONEY is coming from rather than the cast, IMO. A production of this type isn't going to be cheap and with no network footing the bill and the show too niche to attract much support from elsewhere, one wonders where the cash would come from.
What might be a better idea is to turn the film script into an audio script and let Big Finish (of Doctor Who, Tomorrow People and Sapphire & Steel fame) produce it. No visuals means no location shooting or special effects shots, and the lower overheads make such a niche release more viable than a straight-to-DVD film would be.

Hi all, I usually post on the Supernatural board, but am a huge fan of this show and on Digital Spy yesterday I was overjoyed at this news. The un-aired script of Richard's found by his daughter Harriet is going ahead. Big Finish are not doing it as I thought it might but another production company Bafflegab Productions have taken on the script. All actors except Peter Williams 'Much' have signed up and come out of hiding. Robert Addie as said earlier sadly is no longer with us, so whom they will replace Guy of Guisburne with I have no clue. Also Herne the Hunter John Abeniri also passed away so another cast member needs to be replaced, if he is of course in the script itself. So roll on 2016. Jason is taking the main lead and not Michael if you're wondering... This might just be a one-off but who's to know down the line if they will produce any more audio's.

Well, it's early 2016 and if the radio play is going to air or has already aired there is no way those of us in the U.S. will have access to it. Not unless it is recorded and released on CD on amazon.
Really a shame as I was a big fan of the series. I have the DVDS and the original soundtrack by Clannad.

shareThe project is not dead. I have the new three disc Special Edition of Robin of Sherwood Knights of the Apocolypse which includes two cd's and a DVD. All the cast returned except Robert Addie who sadly passed away some years ago. I've got the novel coming aswell.
The script was to be the next series for tv but it never got made so it was adapted for this audio production. Spiteful puppet are selling it on their internet page as two and three disc special editions.
