Parody and The Owl
Here's a blog post called "The Formula for an Episode of Murder She Wrote," and even though I love the show, I must admit that this writer has it hilariously pegged. (Some of the readers' comments are pretty good too.)

No connection to the above, but we've been watching the DVDs, one episode per evening, and somewhere in one of the middle seasons there was an owl hooting. (I noticed because its voice sounded similar to our local barred owl.) That episode was set in Europe, but since then no matter what continent we're on, there's that very same owl hooting! Tonight it was in Arizona. My husband claims it's been following Jessica around.
