Hi, Just finishing season 1 of MSW. There is one missing episode: Episode 19 Armed Response.

I don't know why, though.

the episode "smooth operators" is missing. It says season five ep 12, but netflix doesn't have it. I only notice it, because hallmark channel was playing it, and I miss the beginning, and wanted to see how it started. It's very funny. Jessica plays a rich widow trying to get info on a hospital.

Oh I remember that one that is funny

By my count, there are 6 MSW episode not available on Netflix:

1) Murder to a Jazz Beat (Season 1, Episode 14)
2) Armed Response (Season 1, Episode 21)
3) Murder, She Spoke (Season 3, Episode 22)
4) It Runs in the Family (Season 4, Episode 6)
5) Smooth Operators (Season 5, Episode 11)
6) Ship of Thieves (Season 9, Episode 20)

I saw something on other show boards that mentioned the expense because of music used. Not sure if this is the reason. I'm bummed about, "It Runs in the Family" rough. I wanted to see more of the cousin.

Thanks for that info, poto88 and kharabear97. It seems to be fairly common for certain things to be unavailable due to music having been used, and royalties paid only for the original broadcast -- because nobody anticipated home video. There's an episode of Dabney Coleman's Buffalo Bill where the DVD (though it claims to be "complete") is missing the best scene, a hilarious music video of "Hit the Road, Jack," for that reason. And I've heard that the reason why (so far) only the first season of Mr. Novak has been released on DVD may be that several of the second-season episodes used contemporary music.

I've checked our DVD set of MSW, and all six of the episodes that were missing on Netflix are included (though I don't know whether the music is intact). The set lists some of the episode numbers differently, though, with Jazz Beat being #12, Armed Response being #19, and Smooth Operators being #12.
