Complete series to be released on DVD!

I'm sorry if this has been posted a hundred times before, but Shout!Factory is planning on releasing a complete series set of the G.I. Joe cartoon series as well as individual seasons. For more information, you can read this article:

http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/GI-Joe-The-MASS_Device/11987

From what I have read, they are going to release the Season 1.1 set just like every other DVD release (read: nation wide, in all stores), but the series set is going to be released a bit differently. It will be released at ComicCon in San Diego in July, then it will be available on the special website (the article has a link for that website, which is still under construction), and THEN it will be released in stores.

I still haven't seen anything about the movie being re-released on DVD, so if anyone has any news, please pass it on to me, because I am very interested in picking up a copy.

Hope this helps!

The Complete Series Collector's Set is now available for pre-order here:

It's 17 DVDs! And it comes with a ton of cool extras, including a dog tag flash drive. Not to mention the fact that the set itself looks amazing. The link has all the details.

So for people that don't have Season 2.2 (but all the other ones), we now have to buy the entire/complete series to get the rest of Season 2 or will that just be released later on down the line?

reply

So the whole set is going be out sometime this fall in stores not July 21st?

reply

From my understanding they released the set (or are going to have the set available at ComicCon), then it will be available on the website, and THEN sometime toward the end of the year it (or later down the line) it will be released in stores.

They are going to be releasing the individual box sets (season 1.1 etc) in the stores, so I don't think that you will have to byt he complete series to get the episodes that you are missing.

But you will need to check to make sure what episodes they are including on each box set, just so you don't end up missing any.

I think that's right, because the Seasons may not quite match up to the Rhino sets. For example, this Season 1.1 features the first two mini-series, so maybe episodes featured in the Rhino Season 1.1 will be pushed back to 1.2 here and that will affect it down the line. I don't know for sure.

If not the big selling feature(s) will be the new supplements and I think they've cleared up issues such as episodes having the proper opening. And they may have cleaned them up a bit.

Just in time, before the live-action movie completely ruins another favorite cartoon of mine.

Any word on when the next set of DVDs will be released in stores? Season 1.1 brought back great memories. I'd love to see some of the other episodes I still remember from when I was a kid.

i bought the "Complete G.I. Joe: A Real Americcan Hero" series from www.shoutfactorystore.com and it was well worth it. the only problem I had with it, is i had to exchange my first one because DVD "booklet" case is very fragile and if you're not extremely careful it can fall apart. But I sent the first one back and just recieved my replacement edition and i still think it's bad@$$, also the 1-GB "Dog Tag" Flash Drive (USB 2.0) with 2 silent comics is pretty cool. and now i know i just need to handle the collection more gently than you're average DVD set. And Knowing Is Half The Battle!

In addition to that the footlocker design was cool plus all the special features on the DVDs. $150.00 might be expensive no denying that, but A) it's cheaper than buying them in individual set and B) you don't have to wait inbetween long gaps, or ang gaps for that matter, to get the whole collection. Finally you get some "extra" special features such as the Dog Tag Flash Drive that has a silent Snake-Eyes comic and a silent Storm Shadow comic on it for you to look at on your computer.

the only thing i think they could've done better with this set is the design of the DVD booklet cases. Like i said before though if you just be careful and more gentle with them than your average DVD? Even that shouldn't be much of a problem.

YOOOOOOOOO JOE! -G.I. Joe
COBRAAAAAAAAAA! -Cobra Commander
COBRA-LA-LA-LA! -Serpentor (or Golobulus)

If they made a Cobra-La figure set that had:
-"Man-Snake" Cobra Commander
-Royal Guards
-Nemasis Enforcer
-Golobulus (w/removable Giant Floating spore)
-Pythona (with black hooded cloth cloak)
-and maybe even a Serpentor figure with a cobra that used be Cobra Commander

i'd buy that in second! i was always kinda disappointed that the old Golobulus figure just had a lower snake body and didn't include that Giant Floating Spore thing he had in the movie. If they did it in 2 packs of 3 figures i'd be happy with that even.

This G.I. Joe set and The Transformers one from Shout! are bad@ss though

Along with Cube, I am also curious when these will be released in stores. I assume that Amazon will have a much cheaper price tag.

Anyone hear anything?

Shout! has done the same thing with the Transformers G1 release. This is only a worthy purchase if you don't own season 1.1 that was released a while back. If you have season 1.1, this isn't worth buying and the only thing you can do is wait for all the individual releases which will be released. I believe all the bonus features will be exactly the same as the individual releases. It will probably cost more money to buy this set instead of the individual sets because of the case it comes in. Transformers (matrix of Leadership BS) is priced at 152.99, adn the individual Box sets are like $22.99, which you can do a calculation is see which is cheaper.

You're clearly an idiot, don't get mad because I tell you the truth.

I was led to believe that the Box Sets of TF and GI Joe has some extra special features than the individual sets. I mean, more than booklets and what not, but extra interviews or something like that. I thought I read it on the respective Shout web-pages.

Is that not true?
