DiC series?

Okay, now that we have the Sunbow series on DVD, do you think we will ever get the continuation of the series that DiC did? Seems Shout calls it complete, but we are missing 40-something episodes from 1989 and on. IIRC, isn't the DiC series a direct continuation?

I can't remember where I read it or what it said exactly, but back when Season 1.1 of the Sunbow series came out an article mentioned that after the original Sunbow series was completely released [Not the boxset but the piecemeal season by season sets] that they [Hasbro I assume] would look into the possibility of releasing the Dic series.

Hasbro bought back their entire Sunbow catalog so they now own the rights to the original series, but I don't know for sure who controls the rights to the Dic series. Heck, according to wikipedia [And they're always %100 correctomundo] Dic doesn't even exist anymore.

The end of DIC

On June 20, 2008, it was announced that DIC would be acquired by Cookie Jar Group.[9] On July 23, 2008, Cookie Jar completed the acquisition of DIC Entertainment,[10] and DIC was then completely folded into Cookie Jar Entertainment. Coincidentally, DiC Kids Network on February 17, 2009 to meet the needs of E/I programming on digital subchannels,[11] but Cookie Jar replaced the DIC brand and logo with their name on August 31.

That could make things sticky. Plus the Dic series isn't all that well loved. I suppose if the Sunbow series is a smash then by the time the next live-action flick rolls around they may work things out and release it then to capitalize on the hype.

IIRC, isn't the DiC series a direct continuation?

Yeah I think that it picks up basically after the events of the movie. Many of the original characters had been retired by then, but canonically speaking I think they're simpatico.

Thanks for the info! I do hope it gets released. I don't recall ever seeing it and would love to complete the series.

True, true, but it's always fun to hear Chris Latta doing Cobra Commander (which he apparently did for the first 28 episodes of the second cartoon series before being replaced). Does anyone know what other characters used the same voice actors that they did on the Sunbow series? From Wikipedia it looks like the other voices carried over were limited to Sgt. Slaughter, Baroness, Hawk (season 1 only) and Sci-Fi. It looks like the voices of 12 characters were completely replaced including Lady Jaye, Duke, Stalker, Destro and Serpentor.
