Have there ever been any G.I. Joe: A real American Hero novels?

Does anyone know if there have ever been any novels written based on 'A Real American Hero'? Specifically in the classic era of it? Even Jr. novels [less than 200 pages]. I'm prety sure there were some SIGMA 6 novels, but I was thinking more along the lines of the 80's.

Thanks

I use to have a "which way" book based on GI Joe. Where you'd read a page or two then be given a choice of what happens next. Pre-multimedia. Not exactly a traditional novel but the story was different each time. That was based on the Real American Hero storyline.

Awesome. Thanks for the info.

There was at least 20 of the which way books, and at least 6 novels. (At least that's how many I have There may be more)

Yeah i remember having a bunch of the which way novels, and reading them so many times i already knew where things were going to end based on which page is was telling me to turn to. Wow, i totally forgot about those books until I just read this post.

I still have two of the novels (Fool's Gold and Invisibility Island) Never did get any of the other ones for some reason.

Looks like you can pick them up for decent prices on Amazon's Marketplace.

YoJoe.com has a gallery of the books:

They're missing a couple which can be seen here:

http://gijoe.wikia.com/wiki/Find_Your_Fate_book_series

There were 8 Find Your Fate books that dealt with the characters up through 1985 and 12 that also included the 1986 characters (YoJoe's archive is missing 2 of those). The 6 Young Adult novels included the 1987 characters. Some of them have pretty cool painted covers, especially the novels Fool's Gold and Invisibility Island. Interestingly, the first DIC mini-series stole the name of the second Find Your Fate book, Operation: Dragon Fire.

The Find Your Fate books also came up with a unique code name for "your" character. Here is a list of all the names used. I haven't checked to see if they were ever actually used on future action figures:

Wiseguy (used twice)
Spider
Dog Ear
Hotshot
Outlaw
Presto (let's HOPE this one was never a figure)
Break-In
Commando (imaginative, LOL)
Delta (can he help ya?)
Wheels
Lightning
Compass
Zapper (he later faced a trademark infringement lawsuit from Zap)
Genius (his code name wasn't "Modest" for nothing)
Headset
Brainstorm
Cat (LOL)
Sting
Bombshell (ooh, la la)

That last one's close. There was a figure called Bombstrike...and she was a bombshell:

Colonel Miles Quaritch is like some sort of...non...giving-up...army guy!

I'm guessing many of those were purposely lame so they didn't waste a good character name on a non-action figure. In fact, I bet those were from a pile of previously rejected names and some Hasbro exec said "Here, use these.".

I actually found a boxset of the "Choose your own fate" books at a thrift store today for $2.99 in good, gently used condition. They came in a cardboard case and included three books; #1 "Operation: Star Raider", #2 "Operation: Dragon Fire" and "#4 "Operation: Robot Assassin". There were originally four books in the set but the other was missing.

I was pretty excited to find them and add them to my ARAH Joe collection.
