did anyone have the 7' battleship toy?

I was too old for that stuff, but my brother was yonger and had all that stuff. But he never had the battleship

I was 7 or 8 when it came out. I never had it, but my friend did. His parents were loaded, their house looked like Wayne Mannor. He was an ass, the only reason I hung out with him because his basement was literally a toys r us. Had tons of toys, action figures, and nintendo games.
He had the USS FLAGG set up on a table in the basement along with a couple hundred figures. The only other time I saw was when it was on the top shelf at toys r us. It took up the whole entire shelf and was like $150.00 or so.
I wonder how many people actualy bought it?

reply

Me and my brother had it. We had it set up in the garage, we also had the spaceship but we never took it out of the box. we sold them about 10 years ago for $1,000.

reply

Cool I forgot about the spaceship. Did you have the box for the Flagg. That's were the really money is.

reply

No the box for the Flagg was long gone.

reply

No, but one of my friends did. It was so big, you could've thrown a sleeping bag over it and used it as a bed.

Anyway, I wasn't lucky enough to get the Flagg, but I did have the next best thing - Cobra's Terror Drome. That thing was a monster!

It's still sitting in my basement today - it needs a little dusting, but otherwise, it's ready to once again terrorize the Joes at a moment's notice.

reply

I forgot about the Terror Dome, we had that too. Between me and my brother we had about everything. Man I wish we hadn't sold it all. :(

reply

I had it as a kid and it took up half my room, but that was o.k. it was well worth it, later my mom just gave it away for nothing, but about ten years ago I went to our local toy store and there was one sitting on a table, complete and in amazing condition, so I quickly picked that sucker up and brought it home, only paid 250.00.

as for the terror drome, I have one in a box, mint and I have my original one that my grandmother bought me. sadly I never had the defiant, but I do have the crusader shuttle in a sealed box.

Biggest GI Joe vehicle/playset I had was the smaller spaceshuttle that you could piggyback on the larger shuttle.

The small one was close to the size of the old SW Millenium Falcon vehicle, the larger shuttle with it's launch platform in it's box is about the size of a mini fridge! I remember seeing one at a toyshow years ago and the box mustve been atleast three feet high.

I saw the air craft carrier mostly assembled on a shelf 10 feet off the ground in a Sam's when I was about 8 years old. I was in awe wished it was munchkin level.

The only thing barely close to that I had was Castle Greyskull. A friend up the road had the Cobra Terror Dome, which was pretty bad ass.

its crazy the big ass toys they made in the 80s....like all of the GI Joe stuff mentioned in this thread and the He-Man castles and whatnot.

you never see that anymore. even when they make a base or whatever for a show its always very small and kinda cheap. i recently saw they made a sewer playset for the upcoming new wave of TMNT toys and its big as far as height and all but it looks all anorexic and just little pieces. doesnt seem impressive or as cool. its not the big behemoth it woulda been in the 80s you know?

i've noticed a trend in this thread of people having sold or lost their old toys or their parents just ditched em. i can sorta feel that pain but only because so many of the 80s stuff can bring a lot of cash on ebay these days. i had a CRAPLOAD of TMNT toys including the original sewer set and blimp etc.. and just gave it all away to cousins. i dont regret giving them away as far as nostalgia but i just regret cuz i realize how much money i coulda made on ebay with that stuff. lol same for all my He-Man stuff, we had pretty much every toy from the first wave or so including both castles.

all that said, i still have every single Transformers save for one which i lost somehow, a few of the bigger ones like Scorponok and Metroplex are still pretty much mint in their boxes. i could make a lot of money but thats the one toyline i aint touching. Transformers was "my show" and "my toys", they ARE my childhood so i'm never gonna get rid of em. granted they're all sitting on shelves in a closet or in a box but still....THEYR'E MINE!!! :P but if i ever had to, i imagine i could make a good 2000 dollars or more...but to sorta quote Scotty : i just can't do it!! :P

I had the aircraft carrier, took up as much space in my room as my bed.. I later sold it on ebay and personally drove it to the buyer to save on freight fees (that thing was HUGE)

..or at least I think so lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-JphygYybU

They featured this on the show Toy Hunters that I just saw. He was selling it at trade show with a listed price of $7,500. I think he wound up selling it for around $6,500 in the end.

Wow, really? That must've been mint and still sealed in the box still then? I collect ARAH era Joes, but I never look up the FLAGG on eBay because I could never afford it. But checking Mark Bellomo's "Ultimate Guide to G.I. Joe", which is by far the best book on the line IMO, he lists the value of a MISB version "only" between $1,900-$2,200.

It was brand new, never opened. The guy he bought it from originally had another out on display in his basement that he played with.
