Can GI Joe use Sgt. Slaughter anymore?

Since the Joe toys are made by Hasbro and the WWE toys are made by Mattel that seems to be a conflict. Unless Slaughter owns the rights to himself/the character then he can likely do what he wants with it.

They might have to go through some negotiations for it, but I don't see why they couldn't bring Slaughter back to the toyline, or even put him into the next movie or t.v. series.

In England some of the toys had Sgt Slaughter labled as Sgt Slammer.Maybe if he were to be brought back in any future reboot series they will go with the Sgt Slammer code name.

Sgt. Slammer... Oh my gosh, that kills me.

Sgt. Slammer? Certainly a bit more PC, not to mention more accurate!

According to the makers of the GI Joe Battleground game they can't use the character anymore.

I wonder who does control the rights to the character? Remus himself? The WWE? I ask because Remus has wrestled under the name Sgt. Slaughter--with the trademark sunglasses and outfit--outside of the WWF/WWE quite often. And according to Wikipedia, Hasbro produced new Sgt. Slaughter figures as recently as 2010.

I was a wrestling fan as a kid, but I think of the Sarge first and foremost as a Joe.

Bob Remus aka Sgt Slaughter likely owns the rights to the character , Unless he's signed them over under a newer contract with WWE... Pretty sure he's been a Suit (Road Agent or office jockey) for them since at least 2000

to my knowledge WWE has Never used Hasbro for any of their Toy Lines in the past, before Mattel it was Jakks, in the 80s it was LJN...

when he was added to the GI Joe franchise in the 1980s he was working for a different company (AWA) and had pretty much moved to and from territories at will while retaining the gimmick before that

the UK/Sgt Slammer thing might actually have more to do with the GI Joe = Action Man thing, or general translating to non US markets...

not to mention there was at least one European (Union) Country where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were rebranded as 'Hero Turtles' due to 'Ninja' being too violent of a word... one imagines that if 'Ninja' gets censored 'Slaughter' night also
