Still entertaining

I remember rushing home from school to watch G.I. Joe and Transformers. I would record them (on my VCR) and watch them over and over again. I had all the comic books and a lot of the action figures.

Recently, I found G.I. Joe on Netflix and decided to watch for nostalgia. Wow! I can't believe how great it is to see the show again; it's still so much fun to watch...especially Cobra Commander. I just wish they would show the "lessons" at the end of each episode like they used to. You know..."Now I know; and knowing is half the battle"? :)

They are fun aren't they? Unlike many 80s cartoons it gets by on more than just nostalgia for me. It's really an entertaining show.

The PSA's aren't attached to the episodes on the DVD sets either, but each set contains a selection of them on its bonus disc (and I'm guessing all of them are accounted for across the four sets). They did leave in the commercial bumpers ("G.I. Joe will return after these messages/Now, back to G.I. Joe") which is cool.

I'm struck by how well the show has held up. Pretty decent for a kid's show. Great voiceover work. Plus I appreciate the cheesy self aware humor. Started watching it on Disney Family Channel recently.
