Ah, Woody...Where Fore Art Thou?

Seeing this movie back in 1983, I thought it was funny but so minor "Woody" that it barely deserved the attention it got.

Re-seeing it again this past weekend on Cable made me realize how much I miss the really good years of Allen (IMO, 1977-1989, from "Annie Hall" to "Crimes and Misdemeanors").

Zelig isn't a classic but it showcases Allen using his neurosis and his comedy skills in almost perfect unison. The narration is hilarious how he sounds so serious all the while spewing some of the funniest lines ever. What's that line about how some group only give Zelig half his life back? Classic.

Hey I thought this was a really cool Mocumentary. Allen is pretty good with commenting and overall you get the feeling that zelig was a real guy (duh, you already said that). Woody rocks, dudn't he?

I don't really get the whole bashing of Woody's last 20 years of film. "Husbands and Wives," from 1992, is probably my favorite of his, but "Deconstructing Harry" and "Matchpoint?" Hello!

"I've flown this route before."
"When was that?"
"IT WAS ON THE WINGS OF A DEMON!"
