Finally got around to it recently as I neared by 60th birthday. Prior to that, the closest I got was the Classics Illustrated comic and maybe Cliff's Notes in high school.
It's definitely worth the read.

shareI scored 750 in English SATs and still had to have an old Webster's dictionary at hand to read Moby Dick. I usually read 200 page books in a week or two, Moby Dick took 6 months (two three month periods over 2 years lol when I became determined to finish it). It's as artistic as prose gets but simply very hard reading.
