Remake
Okay I only say this due to the fact they re did the Fog, (a movie that was fine the first time around), do you think they could do a better job if they remade Xtro?

shareIt's very unlikely thry would. Xtro doesn't have as big of a fanbase as a lot of other cult horror flicks. But I could be wrong. They did afterall remake Dawn of the Dead, and are in the process of remaking Day of the Dead. And there was a rumored remake of Suspiria in the works, but that never got off the ground. So, who knows? It might happen, it might not.
But let's hope that Uwe Boll doesb't helm a remake of Xtro, MMMkay?
If it did. I'd hope they get someone cute to play the "hottie" in the cottage.

No remake, please. How could 'they' improve on perfection? Xtro is the pinnacle of post-punk DIY British horror. A snapshot of the mood of the nation at the time - downbeat, depressive, dour, and very English. There will be no happy endings!
shareI too don't think a remake is apropiate, i think a 4th installment should me made, or a prequel to THE SECOND ENCOUNTER or WATCH THE SKIES, either should be fine, or a follow up to THE SECOND ENCOUNTER, but it should be better, with more gore and cool special effects, but in any case, i think we all want to see something new with the title XTRO on it.
share I think this extremely (or is that Xtremely :-)) gross nihilistic mean spirited dark drug trip of movie does have a pessimistic glory to it. In many ways Xtro really is frightening; touching on issues of sadism, abandonment, and eternal loss.
Having said this, it is more or less a very cheaply done poorly made movie. So I think they should absolutely positively remake this film. The problem with a lot of remakes are they tend to take sucessful films (such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and remake them. These efforts are doomed to failure; they almost never live up to the original.
However, the studio that remade Ocean's Eleven got it right. You don't remake classics, you remake more or less failed films and the only place to go is up. Xtro is perfect for a compenently done remake because it has something of a good (if not incredibly disturbing) storyline and yet was poorly implemented. An Xtro Remake might just be the best remake in recent decades.
