the skin head

funniest character in the film. always fighting, delivering his lines so deliberately you wonder if hes reading off a card. he is noticably the worst actor in the movie, by far, and its hysterical.

Skinner wasn't an actor. He was just a skin, as with most of roles in the film. They were for the most part all real punx. Joe Schmo is in the US BOMBS and Flea in RHCP.

reply

Flea was in FEAR before the Chili Peppers.

reply

that kid was not a good actor but since he seemed to practically be the part it kinda made up for it.

I have to disagree with you on this "worst actor in the movie" bit. I think that the bad guy with the longer hair was painfully bad at delivering his lines. Everytime I watch that scene where he holds up the gun in TR House and says, "See that? See it?" I'm about to spit bile. Fuggenay.

I completely disagree. In fact, as I was watching it I thought that he seemed to be one of the more capable actors in the movie. His performance wasn't anything I would consider good, but his delivery worked perfectly given the character and situations.

reply

I noticed that too! And I couldn't help but think, he was such an *beep* always so angry and always the one getting into fights, why did all the others put up with him?

reply

all sqats are required to have one designated skinhead. he's usually the one with a job.

reply

there arent really any good actors in the film. thats not really what that film is about. its good in its own right. someone said in this thread that they didnt know why people put up with the skinhead because he was always fighting. punks in general especially back in those days, were always fighting. being punk in the 80s wasnt cool or a chick magnet like it is now. being punk then meant that if you were out on a friday night, you could expect to get messed with or jumped by any number of groups including: cops, jocks, frat boys, jock metal heads, urban gangs, etc. being a punk and a skin at various times in the 80s, i can attest to the trials and the violence associated with daring to dress punk in public in the 80s. skinheads in the 80s found the subculture through punk so they were going to tend to have a number of punk friends already, so thats actually pretty accurate, also, skinheads tended to be a little more familiar around a street fight and probably a little more physically powerful than the average punk, so they were much needed allies. the only times punks and skins clashed(and they did) was when a skin was overtly white supremacist, although i saw isolated white power skins tolerated in punk scenes as long as they didnt pull any lame stunts at punk shows.

I thought Timothy Eric O'Brien did a nice job as Skinner; he certainly was believable in that role.

reply

I didn't get that he was a skinhead because skinheads are neonazi and they hate punks. I just got him as a bald punk who is called Skinner.

reply

not all skins are neo-nazi's.
in fact, most skins are not neo nazi's

but the crack about all squat's having to have a skin head, and that he is usually the one with the job...
that is hilarious, and judging by my experiences, accurate

"Daaaaaaaaaahhhh nope not a skinhead!"

There were lots of skins in the punk scene in those days. And many of them weren't into white power.

reply

What are you talking about? The skinhead is not the worst actor of the bunch. On the contrary, he's one of the best. He is probably the most believable of the punks, his behavior seems natural all the time, while many of the other kids seem to be acting out for the camera.
