An "inside joke" and movie "nod" occurs in the the Prom scene for Valley Girl. The character of Tommy (played by actor Michael Bowen) is shown walking through the Prom as they play this song:
Eaten by the Monster of Love
Written by Ron Mael (as Ronald D. Mael) and Russell Mael (as Russell C. Mael)
Performed by Sparks
*This song is also played in the Prom scene for Cabin Fever 2:Spring Fever (2009) also starring Michael Bowen who plays the character of Principal Sinclair.

Sorry, that's not correct. I know this movie well. In Valley Girl, "Eaten by the Monster of Love" was played when Chip was riding his bike and ended up at Susie's house, where they eventually ended up in bed together.

No, the only songs playing during the prom in Valley Girl are "Johnny Are You Queer" , "School is In" and then during the fight & "He Could Be the One"
