Is the Twilight Zone a place or a magical force?

It's something I used to wonder as a kid, but is the Twilght Zone an actual alternate dimension that people get trapped in, or is it a god-like force that dishes out harsh justice to cruel or negligant people? Or, if you want to be a stick in the mud, is it just a collection of science fiction/horror stories collected under the title "Twilight Zone"?

Giveaways are the word Zone and the preambles which are heavily filled with spacial terminology.

"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone."

" You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone."

... etc etc, there were other variations during the series.

TZ is definitely a place, a dimension.

Please do not make negative comments about a film YOU NEVER SAW. It makes you look stupid.

One man's "dimension" is another man's "reality."

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

Why are you contrasting 'dimension' and 'reality'? They aren't mutually exclusive terms. If there are other dimensions, they they are all part of Reality, proper.

What people should realize is that "dimension" is not synonymous with "universe" - it becomes a misnomer when used in that context.

More accurately, a dimension is a feature, aspect, attribute, etc. of something. For example, height, width, depth, and time are four dimensions which are known to govern our universe.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for.

In case anyone's interested, there is an actual twilight zone:

It's ... a format for telling these types of stories. I wouldn't read into it more than that.
