Its disgusting that this movie was released with the Morrow segment.

Really - the entire sequence should have been cancelled and removed.

There were scores of other Twilight Zone episodes that the could have chosen to update.

I don't know how "inspiring" it is. I remember one critic at the time saying hauling a man off to a death camp was uncomfortably harsh punishment for shooting off his mouth in a bar. People firing in the dark in Vietnam doesn't seem to fit in with the hate aspects involved with the Holocaust or a Klan lynching, so the whole accident seems especially unnecessary.

Game of Death's release has been called out as a shameless cash grab.

If Landis had behaved more responsibly and the accident had never occurred, the film would have made clear that what was being critiqued was not America's involvement in Vietnam, but the character's own lack of empathy for people different than him. By being in the shoes of some Vietnamese children during the war he gains a better understanding of how and why Vietnamese Americans came to be in this country. By walking a mile in their shoes he becomes a better person. As it stands, people are given the impression that this film is about racism (which it is to an extent), but it's much more about the root cause of it - the lack of empathy. Too bad things turned out as they did. If this segment had gone according to plan, and if Spielberg had done the The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street instead of the awful Kick the Can (which was changed due to the accident to give the film a lighter tone) the whole film would have been much, MUCH better. This film was a tragic waste all around on both on the human and cinematic level.

Pop-actor, are you on crack?! I dare you to say that to family members of the three people who died!

When did people become so callous?

There's a reason John Landis career fizzled somewhat after this, and rightfully so!

People like that are reprehensible. Just because something was an accident, doesn't mean the idiots responsible should be allowed to get away with it, especially when it was caused by extreme arrogance & negligence, & they did actually get away with it, which Landis did.

This whole attitude from people like "Pop-Actor" is just like the way selfish wrestling fans treat Owen Hart's widow Martha. The WWE (WWF at the time) decided it would be funny to have Owen enter the ring by being lowered via a harness from the ceiling, & then release himself about 10 feet in the air & stumble over like a fool. They decided that proper safety stunt equipment was not good enough (as it took time to unhook the equipment), so they decided to use a $68 sail boat harness not designed for stunts like this, & insisted on using it despite several warnings by professional stunt co-ordinators. It had a very sensitive quick release mechanism, & Owen accidentally released it (it is believed he tried to adjust his stupid cape he was made to wear), so he fell to his death.

I don't want to babble on, so I'll try to keep this short as possible. The WWE, like Landis, were extremely negligent & arrogantly dismissed safety concerns, & they got away with it. They settled out of court with Martha (Owen's widow) for $18 million, which is petty change compared to the money they were making at the time, & "coincidentally" they decided to then sue the company that made the harness, for the same amount. Yeah, they were truly remorseful about that *sarcasm.*

Anyway, because of the way they caused her husbands death, & the way she was treated by this deplorable company, Martha has been really strongly against them showing footage, or anything that might make money off her dead husband, so there has been some lawsuits since then with regards to this. She just does not want this company to profit off him, which is fair enough.

So, for years, there hasn't been anything major (DVDs, documentaries etc), on Owen, until recently (a DVD which she did not approve of). For years & years, wrestling fans have said the most horrible & vile things about her (from calling her a selfish bitch, to wishing death), because they claim she is trying to "erase" him from ever existing, which is ridiculous as the facts say otherwise. These whingers claim they want Owen to be "honored" by showing his wrestling, but they are in fact, just pissed off because she is "in the way" of THEIR enjoyment. If they were altruistic about wanting him honored, then they would be fine with the yearly fundraisers organised by the foundation Martha created in her husbands name.

These scum people also take offense that when she has sued this company, its been about "money" when it is just more than that (one instance was suing over unpaid royalties, which the WWE even admitted, but fans don't have a problem with that), but for arguments sake, lets just say she was only after money. So, the widow of a guy killed by some terrible company wants money to support herself & her kids is bad, but the company making money off a guy they killed is acceptable? Thats the logic of wrestling fans for you.

I don't want to keep rambling, but these fans also don't have a problem with the WWE greedily holding onto everything, instead of donating all footage to her. For a company that constantly brags about how philanthropic they are, they sure as hell couldn't be bothered to do this. Then again, this company has even bragged about exploiting terminally ill children for PR & money.

Sorry for rambling, but these kinds of people are simply appalling. Yes, accidents happen, but when they are caused by negligence & arrogance, & the idiots responsible face no consequences whatsoever, then "getting over it" is just letting them off the hook.

It is sad and tragic what happened to Morrow and the children on the set; but I hardly think it could be considered "disgusting", just because of your own self-projection and angst of what you think is inappropriate. Could you please elaborate on why you think it is disgusting?
