Not the Twilight Zone and I'm not sure if it's a movie or TV show....
I've been wracking my brain and searching the Internet, but I can't seem to remember / figure it out. Back in either the late 80's or 90's, there was either a show or movie that's plot went a little something like this:
A man confesses to a therapist or doctor, that he's found a pattern or tic dealing with time or a clock. A result of this, the man has to either tap his fingers, count aloud or something along those lines...or the world will fall into chaos. Whoever be confesses this too obviously doesn't believe him, but relates it to stress. He tries to convince the man to just let it go, there's no way it's possible, let alone a single man's problem.
After explaining the pattern in detail to this doctor, the man leaves. Then, the man decides, what the h*ll, the world's problems aren't mine and so he stops his "tic".
Meanwhile, the world falls into chaos. Considering that there's a possibility that the doctors patient was right, the doctor continues the "tic", creating order again, thus carrying the burden of his patient, in order to keep the world peaceful again.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Was it an episode from a TV show, a TV movie? I can't figure it out!! Please help!!
