I say that every New Year in that voice, and my brother looks at me sternly and in his best stuffy white man's voice corrects me: "It's 'Happy' New Year. In America, we say Happy New Year"!! I of course then apologize: "please forgive my English!"

A holiday tradition in our family despite our wives thinking we're completely touched in the skull.

American English, with all it's sayings has got to be one of the hardest languages to learn.

Another from the movie 2010

Russian: "It a piece of pie!"
American:"No,no - It's a piece of cake..cake!"

Further, they also get the "easy as pie" wrong as well.
